How does inbreeding affect plants' defenses and tritrophic interactions?

On Thursday evening, Dr. Rupesh R. Kariyat from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETH Zürich) introduced our students to the fascinating world of chemical ecology.
We had the chance to focus on the defenses that plants present towards herbivores and to take a walk on the wild side of interspecific interactions, where inbred plants stay behind in the equipment race compared to their outbred conspecifics and pay the consequences, and where blind caterpillars manage to find their way to the plant tissues by using only olfactory cues.
Thank you Dr. Kariyat!
